This is the web site of the Old Dominion Military Society (ODMS), a Wargaming club in Hampton Roads. We have been in existence for two decades, and continue to meet locally on a weekly basis and attend a number of wargaming conventions together. Members have since moved on, and still participate from around the Country, and around the World.

GUNS OF AUGUST!
August 13-15, 2010

The Old Dominion Military Society is proud to announce our first Summer wargaming convention, the Guns of August.
It will be held in Williamsburg, Virginia.
The event will feature scheduled historical miniature wargames and other gaming events, as well as room for open gaming. There will be a number of fine vendors present with a variety of quality wargaming supplies for sale.
The dates for the event will be August 13-15, 2010. Gaming and registration will begin at lunchtime on Friday, August 13th, and last until 5pm on Sunday, August 15th.

The location will be the very comfortable and attractive Holiday Inn Patriot (http://www.hipatriot.com/) located at:

Williamsburg VA.

Rooms will be available at a very special rate of $68 per night, just mention that you are with the Guns of August group, when you register by phone (800-446-6001 or 757-565-2600).
Note that the hotel is now taking room reservations, so call to get yours!

Boardgaming and Wargaming
Last year we had a successful turnout of both boardgamers and wargamers, and would like to continue to encourage growth in that area. We will have space for boardgamers, and if you are a game developer or publisher and would like to promote your product, get in touch with us!

Tournament Play
Guns of August is proud to support several tournaments during the weekend, in addition to all the regular (scenario) gaming being hosted.

Important Dates and Convention Hours
- Game Registration (to be listed in the PEL): August 1, 2010
- Convention Registration (Early) Ends: August 1, 2010
- Convention Starts - Friday August 13, 2010
- Convention Ends - Sunday August 15, 2010
Hours of the convention will be:
- Friday, Registration open at 12:00noon, until 9:00pm
- Friday, Gaming from 1:00pm until the last game ends
- Saturday, Registration open at 8:00am, until 6:00pm
- Saturday, Gaming from 8:00am until the last game ends
- Sunday, Registration open at 8:00am until 12:00noon
- Sunday, Gaming from 8:00am until 5:00pm
Vendors will be open, roughly the same hours as Registration, but may be open later.

Food
The hotel has a restaurant, The Plantation Room, that is open for buffet breakfast, and also for Supper (not lunch). The prices are reasonable.
There is a hotel bar, the Back 9, which serves food and a variety of drinks.
There are Many, Many good restaurants and places to eat in Williamsburg.
The Convention will be offering - for gamers, GMs and Vendors - a Hospitality Suite on premises, with complimentary drinks and snacks.
